We welcome all family history enquiries. We hold many documents including  St. Mary’s BMD records and two very early census records of 1811 and 1821. The church has also digitally recorded the parish records dating back to 1629, which are available for sale. (Click here to visit the shop)

“Tracing my family history at St.Mary”

The picture on the left brought us to Alderley – and started us on the long search for our family histories. My grandfather, Jim Salthouse, who was born in Liverpool, always said that he “loved to visit Alderley – the estate was lovely”.

“A picturesque village just south of Alderley Edge in Cheshire. This is the home of Nether Alderley Mill and St Mary’s Church – both are essential places to visit, not just for their own value, but because the people who work or volunteer there are so friendly, helpful and full of information. If you have connections with Nether Alderley it is worth visiting the Mill and the Church – apart from an enjoyable visit, you just might find more than you expected!”
